Downtown Jamaica  is getting 177 affordable rentals to boost Queens Real Estate

Downtown Jamaica, Queens will soon see a new residential building that will offer 177 affordable units on what is currently a parking lot at 89-50 164th Street, between 89th and Jamaica avenues, currently owned by the First Presbyterian Church of Jamaica, reports DNAinfo.

The building will stand 12 stories tall and based on the application filed with the Department of Buildings, it will offer 14,616 square feet of commercial space, a 63-car garage, and a 9,261-square-foot community center. It’s being developed by the church’s development branch, First Jamaica Community and Urban Development Corporation (FJCUDC), in partnership with Bluestone Organization. Vice President Norman Fairweather of FJCUDC confirmed with Curbed that the apartments will be rentals.

The project is hoping to break ground this December and anticipates completion about 18 months after, slating it to wrap up late Spring/early Summer 2018.
